Before this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game, mogul Jay-Z and Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James will team up to provide mentorship for students at the East Dallas chapter of the Boys and Girls Club.

Both men will personally appear at the event to field questions from the students, take pictures, and hand out books.

Each participating student is a member of the Coca-Cola sponsored Dallas Elevators, a program that aims to empower students through interactive role-modeling with top leaders from different fields.

Well as of Tuesday Wayne showed up in court and his count down to lock down was postponed until March 2nd because of pending dental surgery. MTVNEWS reports: “[Weezy's lawyer, Stacey Richmond] informed the judge that… the rapper is suffering from a cracked tooth and would need to postpone his sentence. The judge agreed and ruled to reschedule for March 2.

The rapper is set to undergo surgery February 12 in Miami, according to Richman. He will need a week to 10 days to recover. His defense offered prosecutors February 25 as a date for Wayne to turn himself him in after surgery, but Judge Charles H. Solomon instead selected March 2.

The judge then warned Wayne that he must return to Miami on Tuesday. Solomon insisted if he leaves tomorrow, there would be a chance his surgery would be delayed due to hazardous weather conditions leaving New York.

“I don’t want this to get pushed back anymore,” Solomon said. “This is the last adjournment.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is being treated for a rare form of leukemia, and the basketball great said his prognosis is encouraging.

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer was diagnosed last December with chronic myeloid leukemia, he told The Associated Press on Monday.

The 62-year-old Abdul-Jabbar said his doctor didn’t give any guarantees, but informed him: “You have a very good chance to live your life out and not have to make any drastic changes to your lifestyle.”

Abdul-Jabbar is taking an oral medication for the disease. He is a paid spokesman for the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis, which makes a drug that treats the illness.

Following Michael Jackson's death on June 25, Kanye West claims he will become the next King of Pop, replacing the late singer. "You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It's so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I'm willing to take that on," so he told polomike.

On what makes him deserve the title, Kanye said, "There's nobody who can match me in sales and in respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael's crown and become the new King." The rapper then added, "First there was Elvis [Presley], then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it's Kanye's time to rule. I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there's nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop."

So, earlier this week, it was confirmed that Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush officially broke up. While, it was reported that their relationship ended because of long periods apart, rumors are surfacing that Kanye West may have contributed.

According to polomike.com, Bush saw text messages from the rapper/producer on Kim's phone and wasn't too happy about it.

An insider tells the news organization that Bush flipped out, due to the nature of the messages.

"Reggie saw text messages on Kim's phone from Kanye West and flipped out on her," the source tells polomike.

"The texts referenced a night they hung out, how much fun he had, how hot Kim was, and more racy things that got Reggie's imagination running."

The source said Bush confront Kim about the texts, and the couple had a huge fight, resulting in the break-up. Both reportedly realized there was trust issues, and agreed to end things.

Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush have called it quits, a rep for the reality star confirmed to polomike.com.

Kim, 28, began dating the 24-year-old NFL star in April 2007.

According to a source close to the former couple, the split was a “mutual decision.”

In June, Kim hit her blog to dispel rumors the two were set to walk down the aisle.“Nobody cheated. This was just a case of conflicting schedules and their lives going in different directions,” the source told polomike.com.

“I am not engaged!!!” she wrote at the time. “I don’t know where all this comes from!… Don’t worry guys, you will be the first to know if and when I get engaged!!… Well after I tell my family, of course!”

After his Houston office and storage unit were searched, and law enforcement officials announced that they believe Murray administered the lethal dose of propofol to Jackson, his Las Vegas home is now being raided by Federal agents.

The Associated Press reports:
A judge [Judge Louis Meisinger] has ordered Nas to pay Kelis nearly $44,000 in monthly support for the near future…
The two have been sparring over support payments for several months, with Kelis contending that Nas hasn’t paid many of the costs of her pregnancy and her expenses. Nas’ attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told the judge that the rapper has paid some expenses and the former couple’s health insurance has been maintained.

Kaplan proposed paying Kelis a one-time payment of $20,000 until the judge could settle on an appropriate spousal and child support amount at a later hearing.

Meisinger rejected that offer, saying more money per month would be needed to accommodate Kelis’ lifestyle and was warranted based on income declarations filed with the court.

As much as we as a site (polomike.com) tend to wish we could just ignore all talk about LeBron James’ future as a Cavalier, we realistically know better. This season is going to be as much about the future plans of LeBron as it will be about the Cavaliers’ latest title chase, so be forewarned. Having said that, though, the news doesn’t always have to be bad.

Sure, it seems like the news that always creates the biggest waves comes whenever a rumor is spread that “sources believe LeBron is going to play wherever Chris Bosh plays” or something of that manner. The kind of news that has LeBron leaving Cleveland is the kind of news that makes headlines. But every once in a while, you get more reaffirming rumors for Cavs fans, and the news this morning is the good kind of rumor.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard is reporting that a source very close to Trevor Ariza has informed him that LeBron told Ariza in a phone call that he would be in Cleveland beyond 2010. Broussard writes:

In a last-ditch effort to recruit Trevor Ariza away from the Houston Rockets, LeBron James told Ariza he would remain with the Cavaliers past 2010, according to a person close to Ariza.

Even that wasn’t enough to get Ariza, who verbally committed to join the Rockets last Thursday, to change his mind and go to Cleveland.

But the Cavaliers will gladly settle for the consolation prize; if indeed James’ statement to Ariza was more than an empty sales pitch.

“Trevor asked LeBron if he would be in Cleveland after next season,” the source said. “And LeBron said, ‘I’ll be there. Of course, I’ll be there.’”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair and a woman were found shot to death Saturday afternoon inside a condominium in downtown Nashville, police said.

Police spokesman Don Aaron said authorities were still investigating the shootings and that no suspects were in custody.

"I don't have any answers for you now as to what's happened, who's responsible," Aaron said.

Aaron said the 36-year-old McNair died of a gunshot wound to the head. He said police tentatively identified the woman, but did not release her name.

"There are persons who were around the complex today, visitors, who have been taken to headquarters for questioning, just to see what they know, what they may have seen," he said.

Aaron said officers went to the scene after receiving a call about injured persons inside the condo.

"When police officers arrived in response to that call, they found two individuals who had been shot to death inside the residence," he said.

The condominium is one that McNair was known to frequent, but police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford said she didn't know if he was the owner.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL and led the Titans within a yard of forcing overtime in the 2000 Super Bowl, which they lost 23-16 to the St. Louis Rams. He also played for the Baltimore Ravens before retiring in April 2008.

"We don't know the details, but it is a terrible tragedy and our hearts go out to the families involved," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement.

"We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair's passing today," Titans owner Bud Adams said in a statement. "He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans. He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl."

The apparent agreement between Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva and the Detroit Pistons will have a ripple effect among some of the major players and their NBA title hopes for next season.

ESPN is reporting that Gordon, who turned down a similar deal in Chicago last offseason, has agreed in principle to a 5-year, $55 million dollar contract and will be joined by former college teammate, Charlie Villanueva. According to sources, Villanueva’s deal is 5 years and $40 million.

Surprisingly, the Milwaukee Bucks allowed Villanueva’s 16 points and nearly 7 rebounds a game to walk away after not tendering him an offer before the July 1st deadline. The move allowed both former UConn teammates to be reunited as unrestricted free agents.

In a savvy front office move, David Aldridge reports that the Pistons brought in the 2004 NCAA National Champions at the same time. That, in hope their familiarity would bring them back together in Detroit.
This move could reenergize a Pistons’ group that got swept in the first round after making six straight Conference Finals appearances.

The pair represents a solid NBA value if you have the money to spend and are willing to spend it. The Pistons reportedly entered the offseason with $19 million in cap space.

While neither guy is quite worth their actual figure just yet, their youth, ability and potential to get better makes this worth a shot. Gordon, 26, will join a backcourt of Rodney Stuckey and Richard Hamilton supplying instant offense off the bench. In crunch time, however, expect to see Gordon and Hamilton playing the vital minutes, anyway.

Villanueva, 24, has a similar skill set to Rasheed Wallace and will resemble him more if he takes on the challenge of playing defense. With Avery Johnson high on the list of replacement coaches for recently fired Michael Curry, consider that a prerequisite.

He’ll have Tayshaun Prince and rookie Austin Daye flanking the wing, with Jason Maxiell and Kwame Brown joining him the paint.

Detroit’s new mix is a versatile group that could make the Pistons a top four seed in the East behind Boston, Orlando and Cleveland but that’s it. It would be a reach for Detroit to beat any in a playoff series and nearly impossible to beat two of them, which is what it will take to win the East.

The LA Times is reporting that the Los Angeles Clippers will trade power forward Zach Randolph to Memphis for swingman Quentin Richardson. The move will take the two years and $33.3 million off their books and replace it with Richardson’s one year, $8.7 million deal.

Moving Randolph, who averaged nearly 21 points and 11 rebounds last season, opens the door for number one pick Blake Griffin to start from day one. It also makes it less likely the Clippers will trade center Marcus Camby, who has only one year left on his contract, as Los Angeles clears cap space for next summer’s free agent crop.

For Memphis, the Grizzlies now have a legitimate low post scorer and a new-look frontcourt rotation of Randolph, Marc Gasol and rookies, Hasheem Thabeet and Demarre Carroll.

With guards OJ Mayo and Mike Conley and wings Rudy Gay and rookie, Sam Young, Memphis has infused some youth and talent into a franchise that was going nowhere, which should give Grizzlies’ fans high hopes for the seasons ahead.

The bad news is that while both Memphis and LA have improved this offseason, they’ll be considered long shots to make the playoffs in the ultra tough Western Conference. With neither team boasting a perennial All NBA talent, they have little chance to impact the upcoming season.

In pre-draft moves, the NBA did its best to keep things interesting with three major trades.

Shaquille O’Neal to Cleveland gives the Cavs the low post presence and star power they’ve been missing next to Lebron James. They stormed their way to the best record in basketball last season before falling to Orlando in the Conference Finals.

The Cavs, who have been overachieving in the Lebron Era, will never win an NBA Title if their second best player is Mo Williams. Why they didn’t pull the trigger on this trade last year is still a mystery considering all it took was throwing Wally Szczerbiak into the package. With both Boston and Orlando having more talent, Cleveland had to make something happen and they did. While Cleveland still isn’t close to being better man for man with Orlando or Boston, James is such an elite talent that the Cavs will contend at the top of the East.

If the Cavaliers can add Ron Artest, who they are in hot pursuit of according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cleveland will have made considerable upgrades. A team of Williams, Lebron, Artest, Shaq and a power forward to be named later has a chance to win a title.

In Orlando, Vince Carter gives the Magic a two-time All NBA and 8-time All Star. Half Man, Half Amazing isn’t necessarily the high flying act he was earlier this decade but Carter, 32, hasn’t averaged less than 20 a game since he was a rookie.

More importantly, Carter is an all around talent that pulls down 5.5 rebounds and hands out over 4 assists a game. For his career, Carter shoots nearly 45 percent from the field and 80 percent at the foul line.

If Hedo Turkoglu stays, this move gives the Magic more team firepower than anybody in the East. It’s just as possible, however, that Orlando will be without Hedo and the Carter move more than compensates for that. In fact, this is an upgrade for the Magic comparing just Carter versus Turkoglu. Hedo is a very good basketball player, Carter is an elite one. Orlando knows there is a logjam at the top of the NBA and this insurance policy keeps them in the discussion.

Like Cleveland, the Spurs added a major piece without conceding any major contributors. Richard Jefferson gives San Antonio a versatile, athletic wing to compliment Manu Ginobili, something they haven’t had since Stephen Jackson patrolled the arc.

Jefferson might never make an All Star team, but neither did Sam Cassell. Jefferson’s all around ability will fit perfectly alongside the Big Three of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Ginobili -- three All NBA talents. The Spurs will further bolster their chances if either or both Ian Mahinmi or rookie DeJuan Blair are ready to contribute next to Duncan.

Note: Sam Cassell made one All-Star appearance in his 15-year NBA career during the 2003-2004 season in Minnesota.

The Spurs are also thought to be on the short list for the services of Rasheed Wallace, a move that would have to make San Antonio the odds on favorite, if they’re not already. In Wallace, the Spurs get a versatile inside, outside big man who can help control the paint next to Duncan. He’s a proven commodity and when motivated, has played like one of the best big men of his generation.

Michael Jackson's family raised questions on Saturday about the death of the "King of Pop" as a probe into his death continued.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson, a friend of the family, said they have questions about the death, but not a lot of answers.

"It's abnormal," he was quoted by U.S. media a day after visiting the Jackson family. "We don't know what happened. Was he injected and with what? All reasonable doubt should be addressed."

He also said the pop star's family is seeking a second autopsy of the pop icon due to the unanswered questions.

Meanwhile, police detectives met with Jackson's in-house doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, who was at the home when Jackson stopped breathing.

Murray's attorney, Ed Chernoff, said the doctor had nothing to do with the pop star's death and will fully cooperate with investigators. "He is not a suspect but a witness," he said.

Los Angeles Police Department officer Rosario Herrera confirmed that investigators questioned Murray, and said he was cooperating.

Jackson, 50, died at the Medical Center of the University of California in Los Angeles after being caught by a cardiac arrest.

He died days away from the start of a sold-out series of 50 concerts in London.

A county coroner's autopsy was done Friday, but officials released little information, noting that drug tests on tissue samples may take as long as six weeks.

As rumors swirled that Jackson may have stopped breathing after being given a shot of the painkiller Demerol, the family hired a private firm to conduct a second autopsy, which was completed on Saturday, said sources close to Jackson's family.

Jackson acknowledged being addicted to prescription drugs in the 1990s.

But Randy Phillips, chief executive of insurance company AEG Live, told the Los Angeles Times that Jackson passed a four-hour physical examination required to insure his London performances, and was given a clean bill of health.

Asked if the physical examination would have revealed drug use, he told the newspaper "absolutely."

Phillips also told Houston television station KHOU that Jackson had demanded that Dr. Murray be added to Jackson's payroll.

"As a company, we would have preferred not having a physician on-staff because it would have been cheaper without the hotels and travel, but Michael was insistent that he be hired," he said. "(Jackson) just said, `Look, this whole business revolves around me. I'm a machine and we have to keep the machine well-oiled,' and you don't argue with the King of Pop."

Funeral arrangements are pending, but according to ABC7, the Los Angeles police and fire departments expect a massive public memorial service.

The family has said there could also be a series of global celebrations to commemorate his life.

Delgado has surgery; 10 weeks to recover

As anticipated, Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado underwent successful surgery on Tuesday morning to remove a bone spur and repair a labrum tear in his right hip. The Mets expect Delgado to need approximately 10 weeks to recover.

Delgado, 36, was placed on the disabled list Saturday with an impingement of his right hip, which had caused the labrum tear. The Mets announced on Monday that he would undergo surgery on the joint.

Team physician Dr. Struan Coleman performed the operation in New York.

Barring a trade, the Mets will proceed over the next 10 weeks using a combination of Fernando Tatis, Jeremy Reed and Daniel Murphy at first base. None has significant experience at the position; Reed made an error in the 11th inning Monday that allowed the Dodgers to score the winning run in a 3-2 victory over the Mets.

"Last night does not change anything," general manager Omar Minaya said on a conference call Tuesday afternoon. "We feel that we have the answers within the organization with Tatis, with Murphy, with Reed. I do feel that our guys are going to have to step up, and I think they will and get the job done."

Minaya said he was not planning on pursuing a full-time replacement for Delgado at first base.

"We'll kind of see how this plays out," Minaya said. "I do anticipate him being back, but we have to plan for everything."

Delgado, who led the Mets last season with 38 home runs, was batting .298 with four homers before the injury.
